Allergic or Vasomotor Rhinitis

DC 6522 has two compensable levels. The distinction is whether polyps are present or, without polyps, whether the examination documents the specified nasal obstruction.

30%

With polyps

The schedule assigns 30% when allergic or vasomotor rhinitis is present with polyps.

Without polyps, with qualifying obstruction

Greater than 50% obstruction of the nasal passage on both sides, or complete obstruction on one side.

The dollar amounts shown are the 2026 veteran-alone base rates. Dependents affect payments only when the combined disability rating is 30% or higher.

Evidence relevant to these criteria

  • An ENT examination or nasal endoscopy documenting whether polyps are present.
  • Objective findings describing the percentage and side of nasal obstruction.
  • Treatment records establishing the diagnosis and history of symptoms.

Medication use and symptom history can support the record, but they do not replace the polyp or obstruction findings stated in DC 6522.
